Columbus, Ohio’s Brothertiger shows that he’s ready for the next level with “I’ll Be Waiting,” a single from his album Golden Years. An indie pop song propelled by a bouncing beat and an upward-facing, circular synth line, the title track blends a jubilant backing track with dreamy, chilled-out vocals. The track is complimented by three remixes. Teen Daze keeps pace with the original while transforming the vocal rhythms, creating an alluringly off-kilter feel. Teeel strips the chillwave elements from the source material, speeding it to house tempo, adding clipped disco guitars, and reducing the reverb to create a hi-fidelity, club-friendly anthem. Millionyoung takes the track in the opposite direction, adding funky bass in the gaps of a slowed-down, pitch-shifted version. The mixes are uniquely appealing, and together they create a collection that comes across diverse and nuanced. “I’ll Be Waiting” serves as an excellent introduction to a promising new talent.
